In conjunction with the
Dalai Lama’s visit, Rutgers is coordinating supporting activities that focus on themes related to conflict and moral obligation.
A Day of Peace at Rutgers—the first student-organized event related to
the Dalai Lama’s visit—took
place on Saturday, April 16, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., at Brower Commons on the
College Avenue campus. All were welcome to attend.
Sponsored by the Rutgers Religion Students Association, the event featured a
presentation from a Buddhist nun who addressed issues of violence, war, and
world peace. Advocacy groups, including Military Families Speak Out and the Coalition
for Peace Action, gave additional remarks. Musical guests Mieka Pauley and
Emmanuel Ayvis performed.
