President McCormick speaking at an eventThis suggested text has been prepared in response to numerous requests from organizations and individuals for the purpose of introducing President McCormick at a public event. It may be used in full or modified as appropriate.

Richard L. McCormick is president of Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey. Since he returned to Rutgers in 2002, Dr. McCormick has championed many innovations. They include a restructuring of undergraduate education, programs to support faculty and student research, an annual "traveling seminar" throughout New Jersey for new faculty, and the creation of Rutgers' first-ever universitywide alumni association.

Dr. McCormick has set a goal for Rutgers to reach the top tier of American public research universities. His ambitions for the university include teaching and research focused on global human problems in strategically selected fields; diversity among students, faculty, and programs; deeper connections with the people of New Jersey; administrative efficiency, accountability, and transparency; increased funding from public and private sources; and attractive campuses on which to live, learn, and work.
